gender observation
sas the post modern dance movement in the 60s and 70s concentrated on producing a democratic form of dance, where sex differences tended to be erased in movement as in performing roles, felix ruckert questions in gender observation the human being though the prism of its sexual differences. issues like attraction, appeal, seduction, sexuality, nudity, - to name just a few - are defined and interpreted in very different ways by men or women. during the research process, the work focused on the contrast between 'nude' and 'dressed', and the differences between male and female body language. felix ruckert approaches gender observation as a systematic anthropologic-choreographic study and chooses to show it in a conventional and frontal stage situation. his six dancers gather high performance and improvisational skills and experience as well as an amazing creative and emotional input.
for gender observation i tried to keep the sounds and music as abstract as possible. this soundtrack builds up from a basic sound that develops into a rhythm and throughout the play rises to a liberating song. throughout the live-mix i follow the timing of the dancers.
